About this project
Designed by Atelier MA, Mandai Courtyard House is a single-storey house standing in a residential neighbouhood in the centre of Singapore. The house has a central open courtyard, giving the owner a secure outdoor space inside the building, and a roof terrace above the main living/dining space. Raised above the ground, the house’s design provides a transitional space between the interior and the garden, resembling an ‘engawa’, a veranda-cum-porch, in a traditional Japanese house.
